There are no great people around me, however given my values it was always going to be a thinker or someone who gets things done.
President Herbert Hoover to me was perhaps the greatest action hero than I have come across. There are several facets to this guy which make me reflect favourably on the guy.
1. He lost his family as a young child so was sent off to his grandparents. So from a very young age he was forced to act or think about important matters I guess. 2. He was running a gold mine in the USA from 17yo, then GM of a famous Australian gold mine by the age of 21yo (Sons of Gwalia), then a gold mine in China 3. He was instrumental in sponsoring aid to Occupied Western European nations during WWI 4. He became president of the USA just several months after the Great Crash of 1929.
The implication was that he was blamed for the crash when really there is very little you can do if the economy has excess capacity. He was really cheated. The paradox is that the potentially best president was preceded by the worst (Roosevelt). I guess Bush could be seriously flawed, but it all started with the deal that President Wilson did with the bankers.
