Forex Analysis & Reviews: EUR/USD and GBP/USD: Technical analysis on July 3
EUR/USD
Higher timeframes Earlier, the market remained uncertain. With the start of a new week and month, a significant bullish gap has formed, followed by a sustained rise. Currently, the pair has reached the resistances of the daily (1.0762) and weekly (1.0767) Fibonacci Kijun levels. If the bullish bias remains intact and the pair breaks through these resistances, the next target will be the 1.0791 mark, which currently combines the daily mid-term trend and the weekly short-term trend. After this, the bulls will be drawn to the cluster of levels around 1.0817-29 (weekly mid-term trend + monthly short-term trend + daily cloud). For the bears, under the current conditions, breaking the support of the daily short-term trend (1.0718) and testing the low (1.0667) will be significant.
GBP/USD
Higher timeframes GBP/USD ended the previous month in the area of uncertainty and consolidation. The weekly and daily time frames are forming and confirming the monthly sentiment. Currently, there is interaction with the weekly levels (1.2652-65) and the daily short-term trend (1.2675). The outcome will determine the further development of events. If the bulls prevail, the market will first focus on overcoming the resistances of the daily Ichimoku dead cross (1.2706 1.2736 1.2765). However, if the bearish bias proves stronger and the market returns below the weekly levels (1.2652-65), then the area of 1.2608 1.2596 (upper boundary of the daily cloud + weekly mid-term trend) will become significant.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 3, 2024
As expected, Eurozone inflation slowed to 2.5% in June from 2.6% a month earlier, but this did not affect the market since investors have long been anticipating further interest rate cuts by the European Central Bank. But the fact that the Eurozone unemployment rate remained unchanged, instead of increasing from 6.4% to 6.5%, left an impact on the market. As a result, the euro rose to the upper boundary of the narrow range, although it was quite a modest rise. The pair wouldn't be able to break out of this range today. Investors are eagerly awaiting the U.S. Department of Labor report, which is set for release on Friday. Until then, no one is willing to take risks. Furthermore, today is a short trading day in the United States due to the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow. Given that the single currency is near the upper boundary of the range, it is more likely for the pair to gradually move towards the lower boundary. However, we don't expect the price to reach this mark. Market activity on Wednesday is expected to be quite low.
The euro slightly strengthened against the US dollar, but no significant price changes were observed. The pair continues to move within the range of 1.0670/1.0750, with particular focus on the upper boundary. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is hovering in the upper area of 50/70, which indicates a bullish bias. Meanwhile, on the same chart, the Alligator's MAs are within the horizontal channel, but are heading upwards. Outlook Movement within the horizontal channel is temporary. The main strategy is to strengthen trading positions the moment the flat phase ends. We can confirm that the phase has ended once the price settles beyond either boundary of the range in the intraday period. In terms of complex indicator analysis, the short term period indicates a bearish bias, while the residual effect of the upward movement remains in the intraday period.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: USD/JPY: trading tips for beginners for the European session on July 5
Overview of trading and tips on USD/JPY There were no price tests of the levels I mentioned in the U.S. session, so we did not get any good entry points. The U.S. holiday was the main reason why volatility was low. Despite the circumstances, sellers were determined to trade actively in today's Asian session, which led to the test of the weekly lows. Even weak data on household spending, which sharply decreased, did not hinder the pair's correction. The figures for the index of leading economic indicators matched economists' forecasts, but traders ignored this report. It is clear that the pair's further direction will entirely depend on the U.S. labor market data, and until then, we are unlikely to see a breakout and consolidation below the daily low. For this reason, I will try to look for reversal entry points, in anticipation of a small bullish correction. As for the intraday strategy, I will rely more on the implementation of scenarios No. 1 and 2.
Buy signals Scenario No. 1. Today, I plan to buy USD/JPY when the price reaches the entry point at 160.89 plotted by the green line on the chart, aiming for growth to 161.46 plotted by the thicker green line on the chart. Around 161.46, I'm going to exit long positions and open short ones in the opposite direction, expecting a movement of 30-35 pips in the opposite direction from that level. You can count on the pair to rise today after actively defending the intraday low. Before buying, make sure that the MACD indicator is above the zero mark and is just starting to rise from it. Scenario No. 2. I also plan to buy USD/JPY today in case of two consecutive tests of 160.52 when the MACD indicator is in the oversold area. This will limit the pair's downward potential and lead to a reverse market upturn. One can expect growth to the opposite levels of 160.89 and 161.46. Sell signals Scenario No. 1. I plan to sell USD/JPY today only after testing the level of 160.52 plotted by the red line on the chart, which will lead to a rapid decline in the price. The key target for sellers will be 159.95, where I am going to exit short positions and immediately open long ones in the opposite direction, expecting a movement of 20-25 pips in the opposite direction from that level. Pressure on USD/JPY may return at any moment within the bearish correction. Before selling, make sure that the MACD indicator is below the zero mark and is just starting to decline from it. Scenario No. 2. I also plan to sell USD/JPY today in case of two consecutive price tests at 160.89 when the MACD indicator is in the overbought area. This will limit the pair's upward potential and lead to a reverse market downturn. One can expect a decline to the opposite levels 160.52 and 159.95.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 8, 2024
Although 206,000 new jobs were created outside the agricultural sector, significantly exceeding the forecast of 160,000, the overall content of the US Department of Labor report turned out to be simply appalling. This was mostly due to the downward revision of previous data from 272,000 to 218,000. This means that for three consecutive months, fewer than 250,000 new jobs have been created, which is not even enough to maintain labor market stability. Consequently, the unemployment rate rose from 4.0% to 4.1%. In other words, unemployment has been rising for three consecutive months. This sharply increases the likelihood of interest rate cuts during the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee meeting, which led to the dollar's weakness. The issue lies in the extremely weak data, which were significantly worse than expected. Considering that today's economic calendar is practically empty, the market will be guided by other factors, particularly the dollar's oversold condition. In addition, the results of the early parliamentary elections in France are likely to disappoint the markets. This is not so much due to the defeat of President Macron's party but rather because of the clear victory of parties that the media describe as far-right. From the perspective of leading business publications, which significantly influence the markets, this is a highly negative factor. Thus, the dollar has every chance to recover some of its recent losses.
EUR/USD closed the week above the level of 1.0800, which in terms of technical analysis is a sign that the market sentiment is bullish. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI reached the overbought zone and left. Based on the absence of a complete corrective movement, we can conclude that at this time the market is reassessing long positions on the euro. On the same chart, the Alligator moving averages are headed upwards, which corresponds to the upward cycle. Outlook If we focus solely on the technical analysis, keeping the price above the level of 1.0800 may eventually lead to further growth for the euro, on the basis of which it is possible to test the local high of the medium-term trend. The bearish scenario will come into play in case of a pullback, if the price settles below the level of 1.0800 for at least a 4-hour period. In terms of complex indicator analysis, the short-term period does not have stable indicators since the price is stagnant. In the daily period, the bullish sentiment is still in force.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 9, 2024
In the absence of any economic reports or news, the market remained in its previous positions. But today it must move. And it's not about the imminent release of US inflation data. After all, this data will be released on Thursday. Today, Federal Reserve Chief Jerome Powell will testify before the US Senate Banking Committee. And tomorrow, he is due to report to the House of Representatives. Politicians will certainly raise the issue of interest rates, especially since the unemployment rate in the United States has been rising for three consecutive months. As a result, the market has revised its expectations regarding the timing and pace of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy easing. Investors are hoping to receive confirmation of the updated forecasts. If these expectations are met, the dollar will resume its decline.
EUR/USD maintains a bullish bias after settling above the 1.0800 level. As a result, there is an increase in the volume of long positions. This may point to the recovery process in the euro. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is hovering in the upper area of 50/70, which points to the bullish sentiment. On the same chart, the Alligator moving averages are headed upwards, which corresponds to the upward cycle. Outlook If the price settles above the 1.0800 mark, it could climb to the 1.0900 level. The bearish will come into play if the price returns below the 1.0800 level.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 10, 2024
Although senators asked Jerome Powell questions about lowering interest rates, the head of the Federal Reserve System gave little away and he gave evasive answers. So, the situation remains unchanged. Today's speech in the House of Representatives is unlikely to bring anything new either. Moreover, the U.S. central bank is waiting for inflation data, which will be released tomorrow. Thus, the most likely scenario is a period of market stagnation.
Despite the fact that the EUR/USD pair has slowed down its upward cycle, the quote has been holding above the 1.0800 level for five trading days. This points to bullish sentiment. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is hovering in the upper area of 50/70, which corresponds to an upward trend. On the same chart, according to the Alligator indicator, two out of the three moving average lines are intertwined. This indicates that the upward cycle is stagnant. Outlook The euro could rise further if the price settles above the 1.0800 level. We expect an increase in the volume of long positions above the 1.0850 mark. The bearish scenario will come into play if the price returns below the 1.0800 level. Comprehensive indicator analysis in the short term does not have stable indicators due to stagnation. In the intraday period, the indicators are reflecting an upward cycle.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Technical Analysis of Weekly Price Movement of S&P 500 Index, Thursday July 11 2024.
Even though on the weekly chart the S&P 500 index still appears to be dominated by Buyers, this is indicated and confirmed by the price movement of #SPX which moves harmoniously in an upward channel and the price movement is above the EMA 20 & EMA 50, but with the appearance of deviations between price movements #SPX which makes higher-highs in its price movements while the MACD indicator makes higher-lows on the contrary, so in the next 1 to 2 weeks it has the potential to be corrected and weakened down to level 5322.39, but as long as the weakening correction does not penetrate below level 4946.59, this index will still has the opportunity to strengthen again to level 5919.63.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 12, 2024
Inflation in the United States was expected to decrease from 3.3% to 3.1%, which in itself convinced the market of the imminent start of monetary policy easing by the Federal Reserve. However, US consumer inflation eased to 3.0% in June. As a result, the dollar immediately started to lose its positions quite significantly. The market is now convinced of two Fed rate cuts by the end of the year. The first rate cut is expected in September, and the second in December. These forecasts and expectations are quite justified. So, locally, the market is entering a phase where the USD stays lower. Of course, there will be pauses and minor pullbacks along this path. Something similar was observed yesterday, closer to the end of the U.S. trading session. Most likely, the pullback will continue today, and the market will try to settle slightly below current values. After that, the pair could move towards the dollar's decline.
During speculative growth, EUR/USD almost reached the level of 1.0900, and the volume of long positions decreased. As a result, the market experienced a minor pullback, which can be considered a process of regrouping trading forces. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI locally ended up in the overbought zone when it reached the resistance level of 1.0900. On the same chart, the Alligator's MAs are headed upwards, which reflects the quote's movement. Outlook To start a new wave of growth, the price must settle above the 1.0900 level. Otherwise, the current pullback may linger in the market. In terms of complex indicator analysis, a pullback is likely in the short term. Indicators signal an upward cycle in the intraday period.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on July 15, 2024
EUR/USD By the end of the week, the euro managed to reach the target level of 1.0905, which is the upper boundary of the descending price channel on the weekly timeframe.
The divergence with the Marlin oscillator suggests a reversal, but once again, a gap is interfering. This gap doesn't significantly affect the technical pattern of the reversal because it can be recouped without any noticeable impact. If the price manages to consolidate above 1.0905, the euro will continue to rise to 1.0964 or even higher.
A double divergence has formed on the 4-hour chart. Recouping the gap may not even disrupt the divergence. The first sign of a reversal is when the price moves below the Kijun-sen line (1.0853). This will likely happen no sooner than tomorrow.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 16, 2024
Yesterday, the dollar was stable amid mixed economic reports and statements of the central bank officials. On the one hand, the eurozone industrial production data, the rate of decline of which slowed down from -3.1% to -2.9%, should have lifted the dollar. After all, despite the slowdown, it was expected to rise from -3.0% to -2.0%. But this was offset by Federal Reserve Chief Jerome Powell's statement that the inflationary dynamics in the United States indicates a slowdown in consumer price growth to the target level of 2.0%. In other words, the head of the Fed almost directly stated that the rate cut is coming into view. And naturally, this weighs on the dollar. Today, the market can focus on the U.S. retail sales report, the growth rate of which should slow down from 2.3% to 2.1%. So the doll
During the upward cycle, locally EUR/USD found itself at the values of the beginning of spring, which indicates the prevailing interest in long positions. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is hovering in the upper area of 50/70, which suggests that the euro may rise further. On the same chart, the Alligator's MAs are headed upwards, which reflects the quote's movement. Outlook Keeping the price above the level of 1.0900 may lead to an increase in the volume of long positions. In this scenario, the euro could move towards the resistance level of 1.1000. Otherwise, the area of 1.0900 will act as resistance, which will lead to a temporary stagnation or a pullback. The complex indicator analysis unveiled that in the short-term and intraday periods, indicators are providing an upward signal.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 17, 2024
The dollar was steady despite relatively good data on retail sales. In fact, their growth rate in the United States slowed from 2.6% to 2.3%. The thing is that the growth rate was expected to slow down from 2.3% to 2.1%. So in theory, the dollar should have strengthened somewhat. However, the general sentiment on the dollar is quite negative, as investors expect the Federal Reserve to start lowering its interest rate soon. Thus, the retail sales data simply supported the dollar, preventing it from falling further. Apparently, today we expect a repeat of yesterday's scenario. Sentiments about the Fed's monetary policy still weighs on the dollar. It will be supported by the industrial production data, whose growth rate in the United States should accelerate from 0.1% to 0.4%. But the eurozone inflation data as a whole can not be considered, as the final data are published, designed only to confirm the preliminary estimates, the market has already taken into account.
EUR/USD is moving around the resistance level of 1.0900, which indicates that the bullish sentiment is still in force. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is hovering in the upper area of 50/70, which suggests that the euro may rise further. On the same chart, the Alligator's MAs are headed upwards, which reflects the quote's movement. Outlook Based on the absence of a full-scale correction, we can conclude that there's a high volume of long positions on the euro. Rising above the level of 1.0900 may lead to a new round of growth, where buyers will face the psychological level of 1.1000. As an alternative scenario, traders are considering movement along the level of 1.0900. The complex indicator analysis unveiled that in the short-term and intraday periods, indicators are providing an upward signal.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 18, 2024
Despite excellent industrial production data, with growth rates in the United States accelerating from 0.3% to 1.6%, the dollar still weakened somewhat. What's even more intriguing is the fact that this happened long before the industrial production data was published. And even before the final inflation data was released in the eurozone. Although they certainly couldn't have influenced anything, as they completely matched estimates. Apparently, this is how the market prepares for the Federal Reserve drawing closer to an interest rate cut. The market is confident that this will happen as early as September. However, today, market participants will focus on the European Central Bank's board meeting. And although the ECB's interest rates are expected to remain unchanged, given the inflation dynamics and extremely weak macro data, ECB President Christine Lagarde may still hint at another rate cut. Thus, indicating that the disparity in interest rates between the dollar and the euro could grow even more in favor of the greenback. As a result, the dollar could retreat to the levels seen at the start of yesterday's trading.
As the volume of long positions rose when EUR/USD settled above the 1.0900 level, the price moved towards the main psychological level of 1.1000. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI locally reached the overbought zone, but it did not hit any of the critical levels. For this reason, buying volumes still have the potential to rise. On the same chart, the Alligator's MAs are headed upwards, which reflects the quote's movement. Outlook In case the pair rises further, the quote may reach the psychological level, but it is important to take note of the euro's overbought status. Thus, the pair could pull back or become stagnant within the boundaries of the psychological level. An increase in buying volumes may take place after the price settles above the 1.1050 level. The complex indicator analysis unveiled that in the short-term and intraday periods, indicators are providing an upward signal.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 19, 2024
The European Central Bank was widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged. What came as a surprise were the Bank's extremely pessimistic assessments of the eurozone economy. This suggests not just further easing of monetary policy, but possibly a more aggressive rate cut. Moreover, ECB President Christine Lagarde said that the next interest-rate meeting is "wide open", hinting that another cut is possible. So, it should not be surprising that the euro actively fell on these remarks. Nevertheless, it is likely to be temporary. The market has long been anticipating the ECB's rate cuts. The main focus now is the upcoming rate cut by the Federal Reserve. Therefore, once the media starts discussing this topic more actively, the euro will likely rise again. It is quite possible that within just a couple of days, the market will return to the levels seen at the start of yesterday's trading.
The volume of long positions on the EUR/USD pair decreased within the lower range of the psychological level of 1.0950/1.1000. As a result, a pullback occurred, causing the price to drop below the 1.0900 mark. The RSI dropped below the average level of 50 in the 4-hour time frame during the price pullback, indicating an increase in the volume of short positions on the euro. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, two out of three moving average lines are intertwined, indicating a slowdown in the upward cycle. However, these are initial signs of a slowdown, which do not change the overall trend. Outlook If the price settles below 1.0900 by the end of the week, the pair may enter a corrective phase. Otherwise, the euro's local weakness may benefit the bulls, leading to a new stage of growth. Complex indicator analysis points to a corrective move in the short-term and intraday time frames.

Forex Analysis & Reviews: Technical Analysis of Intraday Price Movement of NZD/USD Commodity Currency Pairs, Tuesday July 23, 2024.
With the appearance of deviations between price movements and the MACD Histogram indicator on the 4-hour chart of the NZD/USD commodity currency pair, in the near future there will be a strengthening correction in the Kiwi even though currently the bias is still weak, which is confirmed by the price movement which is below the EMA 20 & EMA 50, but as long as the strengthening correction does not broken above the 0.6061 level, NZD/USD will have the potential to weaken again to the 0.5930 level as the main target and if momentum and volatility support it, NZD/USD will fall to the 0.5839 level.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Technical Analysis of Intraday Price Movement of GBP/USD Main Currency Pairs, Wednesday July 24, 2024.
The cable on the 4-hour chart is still in a bullish condition where this condition is confirmed by the position of the EMA 50 which is still above the EMA 200 (Golden Cross). However, currently there is a weakening correction and has the potential to bring GBP/USD to the level of the 1.2845-1.2829 area. However, as long as the downward correction does not broken below the 1.2775 level, GBP/USD will strengthen again because this is confirmed by the appearance of deviations between price movements and the MACD Histogram indicator and the existence of a Failing Wedge pattern. where based on these two indicators, GBP/USD has the potential to appreciate stronger to the level of 1.2941 and if momentum and volatility support it, GBP/USD will continue its strengthening to the level of 1.3043.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 25, 2024
The forex market continues to tread water despite the release of economic reports. According to preliminary assessments, European business activity indices have all declined, while only the manufacturing sector's business activity index showed a decrease in the US. Conversely, the composite index and the services PMI data showed growth and exceeded forecasts. Nevertheless, this had no impact on the situation. The weak eurozone data only prevented the dollar from falling. Almost simultaneously, corporate media began promoting the idea of a rate cut at the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting in July. This idea may gain traction and pressure the market, contributing to the dollar's weakness. Considering that today's macro data will have a minor impact, as changes in unemployment claims are expected to be purely symbolic, the market will likely gradually move towards pushing for the dollar's decline.
EUR/USD is in a corrective phase, trading from the lower area of the psychological level 1.0950/1.1000. As a result, the quote has dropped more than 100 pips, which fits within the cyclical component of the upward trend. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of the 30/50 range. However, it touched the oversold level, indicating an excessive volume of short positions in the euro. During the same time frame, the Alligator's MAs point downwards, aligning with the corrective cycle's direction. Outlook The euro may reach the 1.0800 level if the corrective phase remains intact. However, based on the technical signs of the euro's oversold conditions in the short term, selling volumes may eventually fall, which, in theory, will lead to the end of the corrective cycle. In terms of complex indicator analysis, the volume of long positions may likely rise in the short term. Meanwhile, the bearish bias persists in the intraday period.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 26, 2024
The situation in the market remains unchanged, and in general, the changes have been purely superficial for the entire week. This is partly due to an almost empty economic calendar. On the other hand, after the sharp increase in political uncertainty in the United States over the past weekend, following Joe Biden's announcement of his withdrawal from the election race, the situation had noticeably become more stable by Monday evening. This also contributed to the normalization of the currency market. Moreover, while at the beginning of the week, American media were trying to hype the potential for an interest rate cut this month, by mid-week, it seemed that everyone had forgotten about it. It appears that nothing will change today either, especially with the Federal Open Market Committee meeting approaching in the middle of next week. The media coverage will likely intensify on Monday, with countless predictions and discussions about the possibility of interest rate cuts.
The corrective cycle slowed down around the 1.0825 level. This was followed by a pullback-stagnation phase, characterized by a typical realignment of trading forces. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of the 30/50 range, which suggests that the bearish bias remains intact. In the same time frame, the Alligator's MAs point downwards, aligning with the corrective cycle's direction. Outlook Assuming the bearish sentiment persists, the euro could fall to 1.0800. However, it is important to consider that the upward trend generally remains intact, and the current correction still fits within its cyclical phase. Therefore, it is crucial to carefully analyze potential support levels from which the price could initiate a rebound, possibly marking the beginning of a recovery process in the euro. In terms of the complex indicator analysis, we see that in the short term, technical indicators lack stable signals due to the stagnant phase. Meanwhile, in the intraday period, the indicators reflect a bearish cycle.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 29, 2024
Considering the empty economic calendar, it's no surprise that market conditions remain unchanged. The dollar is treading water. This situation will likely persist until the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting occurs on Wednesday. It's not just about the meeting itself but also about the lack of macro data.
The corrective cycle slowed down around the 1.0825 level. This was followed by a pullback-stagnant phase characterized by a typical realignment of trading forces. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI is moving along the middle level of 50, indicating a stagnant phase. On the same chart, two of the three moving averages of the Alligator Indicator intersect, indicating a slowdown in the downward cycle. Outlook The bearish movement will come into play if the price falls below the 1.0825 mark. In this scenario, there is a high probability of reaching the 1.0800 level with an attempt to break through it. As for the bullish scenario, it considers the end of the corrective cycle relative to the current values, with a gradual increase in the volume of long positions. In this case, the price will gradually return to the values of the local high of the upward cycle. Complex indicator analysis indicates a stagnant phase in the short- and intraday time frames.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 30, 2024
Last week, the mainstream US media hinted at the possibility of an interest rate cut as early as the Federal Open Market Committee's July meeting. Many expected the current week to begin with further development of this topic. However, nothing of the sort happened. On the contrary, everyone unanimously spoke about maintaining interest rates at their current levels. This has led to a substantial increase in the US dollar. But it would be rash to anticipate a continuation of this trend. There is speculation that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell might almost directly suggest the possibility of lowering the interest rate following the September meeting. Previously, Powell had never given any indications about the timing of the rate cut. This prospect will likely restrain the dollar from further growth. Therefore, today, we are likely to see consolidation around current levels.
The EUR/USD pair managed to strengthen its short positions during a brief process of regrouping trading forces. As a result, a new local low was established last week, with the quote approaching the support level of 1.0800. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of 30/50, indicating the appeal of short positions in the market. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines are pointing downward, which corresponds to a descending cycle. Expectations and Perspectives To strengthen the corrective cycle, the euro must stabilize below the 1.0800 level. Otherwise, market participants may use this level as support, potentially leading to a gradual recovery of the euro. Complex indicator analysis indicates a downward cycle in the short-term and intraday time frames.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on July 31, 2024
Today's Federal Open Market Committee meeting is not only the day's main event, but it will also determine the dynamics of market developments for the entire month ahead. Everything will depend on the statements made by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. However, there is little doubt that Powell will almost explicitly announce the beginning of monetary policy easing in September this year, which will contribute to the U.S. dollar's prolonged weakness.
The volume of short positions on EUR/USD decreased after the pair reached the support level of 1.0800. As a result, there was a price rebound, followed by the pair's stagnation around the base of the corrective cycle. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of 30/50, indicating that the bearish bias persists in the market. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines point downward, corresponding to a downward cycle. Expectations and Perspectives Today, speculators' main focus will be on the information flow, which will undoubtedly lead to increased volatility. As for technical analysis, the 1.0800 level will serve as support, enabling the euro to gradually recover relative to the current correction. The bearish scenario will come into play only after the price stabilizes below the 1.0800 level. Complex indicator analysis indicates a price rebound from the 1.0800 level in the short term. Indicators are reflecting a downward cycle in the intraday period.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on August 1, 2024
The Federal Open Market Committee meeting results indicated a significant rise in the dollar, but it never happened. The market continues to stagnate despite statements from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. He explicitly mentioned the need to begin easing monetary policy. However, he did not specify when this process would start. Although there is no doubt that interest rates will be lowered as early as September, the market was generally prepared for this development. Furthermore, according to preliminary estimates, inflation in the eurozone accelerated from 2.5% to 2.6% instead of slowing down to 2.3%. This creates a precondition for the European Central Bank to slow down the pace of interest rate cuts, contributing to the single European currency's strength. In other words, these factors somewhat balanced each other out. Today, the focus will be on events unfolding in Europe. First, investors expect another interest rate cut from the Bank of England, which will support the U.S. dollar. Second, the eurozone is expected to see a sharp increase in the unemployment rate from 6.4% to 6.9%. Due to the scale of the change, this is likely to have the most significant impact. Therefore, despite Powell's statements yesterday, there are all the prerequisites for further strengthening of the dollar.
Despite a rich flow of information, the EUR/USD pair has not shown any speculative activity. The quote has formed a characteristic stagnation around the local low of the corrective cycle, as the support level of 1.0800 serves as a support. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of 30/50, indicating that the bearish sentiment persists in the market. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines point downward, corresponding to a downward cycle. Expectations and Perspectives Subsequent price fluctuations within the 1.0800/1.0850 range are possible in this situation. When the price breaks out of either boundary of the established range, a major spike in speculative activity is expected.

Formally, it is reasonable for the dollar to strengthen. After all, the unemployment rate in the eurozone rose from 6.4% to 6.5%. However, the increase was not as substantial as expected since forecasts anticipated a figure of 6.9%. Nonetheless, unemployment still increased. And what's much more important is the Bank of England's decision to lower the base rate, which was also largely expected. So, it is not that surprising that the dollar has risen. However, the movement ended even before the unemployment data was published in the eurozone and a couple of hours before the BoE meeting outcome. This is what's surprising. It indicates excessive speculative pressure, fraught with the growth of imbalances, which are often corrected by sharp and sudden jumps. Today, a slight weakening of the dollar is likely influenced by the contents of the United States Department of Labor's report. Primarily, this concerns the number of new jobs created outside of agriculture. There are expected to be only 190,000 new jobs, which is the most optimistic forecast. However, considering demographic dynamics, approximately 250,000 new jobs need to be created monthly to maintain labor market stability. However, only 532,000 new jobs were created over the last three months. This indicates further growth in unemployment and the inevitability of interest rate cuts, which will undoubtedly put pressure on the U.S. dollar.
The EUR/USD pair extended the current corrective cycle while the market strengthened its positions on the dollar, breaking through the support level at 1.0800. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator is moving in the lower area of 30/50, indicating that the bearish sentiment persists in the market. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines point downward, consistent with the downward cycle. Expectations and Perspectives Based on the euro's local oversold status, the current downward cycle could be interrupted, leading to an attempt to accumulate long positions. However, the main trigger for today will be the information flow, particularly the report from the United States Department of Labor. Thus, technical analysis is relegated to a secondary role.

Of course, everyone was expecting some gradual deterioration in the state of the American labor market. But nobody could have nightmares about what happened last Friday. First and foremost, the unemployment rate jumped from 4.1% to 4.3%, which was expected to remain unchanged. Furthermore, only 114,000 new jobs were created in the non-agricultural sector instead of the forecasted 190,000. Moreover, previous data was revised downward from 206,000 to 179,000. Clearly, unemployment will continue to rise. After that, the media started to say there would be no soft landing on the American economy, and everything would turn into a deep recession. Accusations immediately started flying at the Federal Reserve, which allegedly delayed the beginning of monetary policy easing too long. Rumors quickly spread that at the September meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee, the interest rate would be reduced not by 0.25% but by 0.50%. Against this backdrop, the dollar naturally began to fall rapidly. Considering that there is now active discussion about the need to reduce interest rates by even 0.75%, the dollar will remain under pressure and is likely to weaken even further.
Amid the information and news flow, the volume of long positions in the euro significantly strengthened. As a result, the EUR/USD pair almost fully recovered relative to the recent corrective move. Due to speculative price movements, the RSI indicator reached the overbought zone in the 4-hour chart, indicating an excessive number of long positions. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines point upwards, corresponding to an upward cycle. Expectations and Perspectives From a technical perspective, there is a local overheating of long positions in the euro, which allows for the formation of a pullback. As for the next stage of growth, testing the local high of July is necessary. In this case, breaking through the psychological level of 1.1000 is possible. Complex indicator analysis signals a pullback in the short term. The indicators point to an upward cycle in the intraday period.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on August 6, 2024
EUR/USD Yesterday's market panic had almost subsided by this morning. Monday did not turn out to be a "black" day. The S&P 500 plummeted by 4.71%, closing at -3.00%. Good ISM figures supported the market: business activity in the non-manufacturing sector strengthened from 49.6 to 54.5 in July, and the employment index rose from 46.1 to 51.1 against an expectation of 46.4. However, the cunning euro buyers we mentioned in our last review chose a bad moment for their action. Market participants did not believe in their notions of a fourfold rate cut by the end of the year, specifically a double decrease of 0.5% each. We saw a similar pattern last November when investors anticipated a sixfold rate cut for the current year, but then the euro fell by 4.5 figures.
After reaching the target level of 1.1010, the price is now ready to form a divergence with the Marlin oscillator on the daily chart. If the pair closes the day below the July 17th peak of 1.0949, the likelihood of the price returning to 1.0905 and attempting to consolidate below this level will significantly increase.
The target level of 1.1018, which we highlighted on the weekly chart, no longer needs to be met with absolute precision unless it is to continue the rise above 1.12.
The price is consolidating below the resistance at 1.0964 in the 4-hour chart. Marlin is striving to exit the overbought zone. If the price consolidates below the level of 1.0905 in this time frame, it will also mean settling below the MACD line on the weekly chart. We're waiting for the market to cool down and form more stable signs of reversal and decline.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on August 7, 2024
The market is set on further weakening of the dollar. Even the extremely disappointing data on retail sales in the eurozone, which slowed from 0.5% to -0.3%, did not provide any notable support to the US dollar. Overall, the market continues to be governed by rumors and expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's actions. Investors still believe the US central bank will immediately lower interest rates by 0.50%. Furthermore, there is speculation about a possible emergency meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee. The dollar will remain under pressure if all this noise does not settle.
During the corrective phase, the EUR/USD pair locally fell almost 100 pips from the 1.1000 level. This movement still fits within the tactical component of the upward cycle. In the 4-hour timeframe, the RSI indicator reflects behavior similar to the price on the trading chart. Initially, the indicator entered the overbought zone, which coincides with the price reaching the 1.1000 level. Afterward, the indicator returned to the 50/70 zone, indicating a pullback. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, the moving average lines point upwards, corresponding to an upward cycle. Expectations and Perspectives In this situation, the corrective phase is still relevant in the market. However, if by the end of the day there is no stabilization of the price below 1.0900, it can be assumed that the correction is ending. This could lead to a potential increase in the volume of long positions and a gradual recovery of the euro. The comprehensive indicator analysis signals a correction in the short-term and intra-day periods.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: From sell-off to gains: stock indexes show positive dynamics
Markets recover from sharp decline The S&P 500 and Nasdaq jumped 1% on Tuesday, showing a strong recovery from the recent sell-off. Investors began to actively buy stocks again, inspired by positive comments from Federal Reserve officials, which eased fears about a possible recession in the U.S. Global growth and a return to risk Equally on the day, stocks around the world began to recover from the aggressive declines the previous day. Amid this gain, U.S. Treasury yields increased and the dollar strengthened. Investors have returned to buying riskier assets despite lingering concerns about an economic slowdown. Cooling Optimism The Dow Jones Industrial Average also showed positive dynamics, but, like other major indices, it fell by the end of the trading day, falling short of the daily highs. This shows some caution among market participants despite the overall improvement in sentiment. Fed calms markets U.S. Federal Reserve officials issued statements rejecting the view that weak July employment data points to an approaching recession. However, they warned that lowering interest rates may be necessary to prevent a possible economic slowdown. Rate cuts likely Amid weak economic data, stocks were under pressure, fueling fears of a U.S. recession. According to CME Group's FedWatch tool, traders are pricing in the likelihood of a rate cut at the next meeting in September, with 75% expecting a 50 basis point cut and 25% expecting a 25 basis point cut. S&P 500 Sectors Advance: The Day's Top Performers All of the major sectors of the S&P 500 ended the day higher, with real estate and financials leading the way. Tech company Nvidia was a particular highlight, jumping nearly 4% to lead the gains for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Investors Return to the Market "The market has been oversupplied, but there's a significant recovery happening, particularly in the Nasdaq. Investors are starting to believe again that lower interest rates will be good for stocks," said Rick Meckler, a partner at Cherry Lane Investments, a family-owned investment firm in New Vernon, N.J. Indices Are Rising The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 294.39 points, or 0.76%, to 38,997.66. The S&P 500 gained 53.7 points, or 1.04%, to 5,240.03, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 166.77 points, or 1.03%, to 16,366.86. The Impact of Artificial Intelligence The Nasdaq Composite has risen 9% in 2024, helped by strong earnings and a bullish outlook for AI. However, as Meckler noted, "while recent earnings have been good, they have fallen short of expectations in many cases." Market valuations remain high, with the S&P 500 trading at 20 times trailing 12-month earnings, according to LSEG, well above the long-term average of 15.7. Expectations and Risks Amid unexpected developments such as the Bank of Japan's recent rate hike, investors have begun to unwind the yen-denominated financing that has been used to buy stocks for years. This has added to market uncertainty and left many wondering about the outlook. Awaiting Powell's Speech One of the key events investors are watching is Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's speech at a symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, scheduled for August 22-24. His words could influence future market moves and provide insight into the future of monetary policy. Uber and Caterpillar Succeed Uber shares soared 11%, beating Wall Street's second-quarter revenue and profit expectations. The company was able to show solid growth thanks to strong demand for its ride-sharing and food delivery services. Meanwhile, Caterpillar shares rose 3% as the company also beat analysts' forecasts despite weaker demand in North America. Rising prices for heavy equipment such as excavators helped offset those losses. Trading Activity on the Rise Trading volume on U.S. stock exchanges totaled 13.52 billion shares, above the 20-day average of 12.48 billion. Advancing stocks outnumbered declining stocks on the New York Stock Exchange by a 2.59-to-1 ratio, while the Nasdaq saw a 1.93-to-1 ratio. Highs and Lows The S&P 500 posted 12 new 52-week highs and seven new lows, while the Nasdaq Composite posted 31 new highs and 144 new lows. These figures highlight the continued volatile market, with gains and losses alike. Oil Prices Rebounding Oil prices also edged higher after falling to multi-month lows on Monday. Investors' attention has shifted to supply-side concerns, which, along with a recovery in financial markets, has eased concerns about future energy demand. Nikkei recovery: relief after collapse Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 10%, providing some relief after its 12.4% plunge on Monday. The drop was the biggest one-day sell-off in Japan since Black Monday in 1987, causing global investor jitters. Fed: Slowdown, not recession U.S. Federal Reserve officials on Monday dismissed speculation about a recession despite weak employment data for July. San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly stressed that current data suggest the economy is slowing, but not collapsing. She noted the importance of preventing a labor market crisis. Global Markets Rise The MSCI index, which tracks shares around the world, rose 8.91 points, or 1.17%, to 770.99, off its daily high of 777.81. That followed a more than 3% drop on Monday, marking the third straight day of losses for the global market. European Markets Volatility Europe's STOXX 600 index ended the session up 0.29%, despite earlier volatility, when it fell 0.54%. That underscores the nervousness among European investors trying to adjust to rapidly changing market conditions. FX Market Jitters On the FX front, the dollar strengthened against its major counterparts, while the Japanese yen hit seven-month highs against the US dollar. Some of the more dramatic moves of recent days have eased, and markets are beginning to feel a sense of calm again. Dollar Strengthens Amid Currency Volatility The dollar index, which tracks the dollar against major currencies including the yen and euro, rose 0.07% to 102.94. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar gained 0.4% to 144.74, while the euro weakened 0.2% to $1.093. U.S. Treasury Yields Rise U.S. Treasury yields rose as fears of a potential recession in the country proved overblown, dampening demand for safe-haven U.S. bonds. The 10-year yield rose 12 basis points to 3.903%, while the 30-year yield rose 12.1 basis points to 4.1924%. The yield on 2-year bonds, which often react to changes in interest rate expectations, also rose to 3.9936%. Oil prices recover Oil prices have stabilized after falling on Monday. U.S. crude rose 0.36% to $73.20 a barrel, while Brent crude ended the trading session at $76.48 a barrel, up 0.24% from the previous day. Precious Metals: Gold Loses Ground With the dollar strengthening and bond yields rising, precious metals prices fell. Spot gold fell 0.82% to $2,387.88 an ounce. U.S. gold futures also fell 0.37% to $2,392.70 an ounce. However, expectations of a U.S. interest rate cut in September and ongoing tensions in the Middle East limited gold's losses, maintaining its appeal as a safe haven asset.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on August 9, 2024
Despite slightly increased volatility, the situation in the currency market remains generally unchanged. The dollar continues to trade around the levels reached in the middle of the week. This situation will likely not change until the middle of next week. Investors are waiting for inflation data from the United States, which will provide an answer to the question of the Federal Reserve's next steps. Moreover, Fed officials are trying to calm the markets by stating that inflation targets have still not been met, implying that no rapid easing of monetary policy should be expected. From this, it can be assumed that a reversal will begin mid-next week, and the dollar will noticeably strengthen.
The volume of short positions on the EUR/USD pair decreased after touching the support level of 1.0900, which led to a retracement, even though the price locally breached the level. On the 4-hour chart, the RSI indicator was temporarily below the average level of 50 but then returned above it. This movement indicates a decline in the volume of short positions. Regarding the Alligator indicator on the same time frame, two of three MA lines are intertwined, indicating a stagnant phase. Expectations and Perspectives The price must settle below 1.0900 by the end of the week to support the correction. Otherwise, the level will continue to act as support, which could lead to the price fluctuating within the range of 1.0900/1.0950. The comprehensive indicator analysis signals a stagnant phase in the short-term and intra-day periods.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on August 12, 2024
On the weekly chart, the price consolidated above the MACD indicator line. The probability of a retest of the target level of 1.1010 or reaching 1.1043 has slightly increased. At the same time, we observe the formation of a very extended wedge on the Marlin oscillator.
Long wedges rarely precede strong, sustained movements; however, the price is clearly on the brink of significant changes that could take it out of the prolonged range of 1.0636-1.1010. If the price breaks below this range, the target levels are 1.0369 and 1.0173.
On the daily chart, the price struggles with the support at 1.0905, aided by divergence with the Marlin oscillator. Therefore, a weekly close in the form of a Doji could also be a false signal. A daily close below the 1.0905 level would indicate the development of the main bearish scenario. After all, the opening of a new weekly candle occurred below the MACD line.
On the 4-hour chart, the price is currently moving above the balance indicator line (red moving average). If the price consolidation above 1.0905 continues, the balance line will be above the price. The signal line of the Marlin oscillator is moving sideways in negative (descending) territory, which increases the likelihood of the price dropping below support in this time frame. Moving below the MACD line (1.0877) would confirm the price's intention to reach the 1.0788 target.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on August 13, 2024
The euro's consolidation above 1.0905 continues. Yesterday's session closed with a white candlestick, so formally, the probability of the price moving above 1.1010 has slightly increased. However, the price has yet to climb above 1.0964, and the Marlin oscillator continues to apply downward pressure through technical divergence.
On the 4-hour chart, the price is moving along the balance line, highlighting the situation's neutrality. The Marlin oscillator has approached the zero line.
A drop in price below the 1.0905 support would be significant, indicating a potential development of a downward, likely medium-term movement. A shift in the quote below the MACD line, beneath the 1.0888 mark, would confirm this
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on August 14, 2024
The euro's neutral situation gained upward momentum yesterday. On the weekly chart, the Marlin oscillator's signal line emerged from the wedge upwards
If the price manages to consolidate above the level of 1.1010 on the daily chart, it could potentially open up a medium-term growth prospect. The first target would be 1.1043, followed by 1.1085the peak from December 28 of last year.
n the daily chart, the divergence has transformed into a regular upward movement of the Marlin oscillator, which is still far from overbought conditions. Forming a double top is only possible if the price falls from 1.1010.
In the 4-hour chart, the euro continues to rise. The price broke away from the balance line upwards, and the Marlin oscillator entered positive territory. We await key developments at the critical level of 1.1010.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 2, 2024
Following the release of U.S. data on personal consumption expenditures (PCE) and personal income/spending from Friday, the dollar index increased by 0.35%. The euro declined by 30 points, settling below the 1.1085 level. The decline paused at the peak level from August 14. Additionally, the signal line of the Marlin oscillator has reached the boundary of the declining trend territory and suggests a potential correction. However, the main reason for the strengthening of the bulls is that stock market indices are aiming to set new historical records. If the stock market continues to rise, the euro is unlikely to reach the target supp
Today is a holiday in the U.S. and Canada, and with the ECB expected to lower rates in 10 days, the euro may not challenge the 1.0950 level too soon. Today and tomorrow, the euro will likely test the resistance at 1.1085. A subsequent attempt to reach 1.1010 is possible, as the price is currently trading within the range of 1.1010 to 1.1085. Declining commodity prices in the local situation will help the dollar.
On the H4 chart, the price and oscillator have formed a small but significant convergence indicating a potential correction. We expect the price to reach the indicated level of 1.1085.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on September 3, 2024
Due to the holiday in the United States, the market situation remained unchanged. Strangely enough, this stagnation might continue today; this time, it will be due to an empty economic calendar. The final data on the U.S. Manufacturing PMI is unlikely to have any significant impact. Even if it differs somewhat from the preliminary estimates, its influence will likely be more symbolic, as the market has already largely priced in this factor. The only thing that might affect the situation is possible statements from representatives of the European Central Bank. After all, inflation in the Eurozone is slowing down noticeably faster than in the United States. Therefore, the ECB might hint at a slightly more aggressive easing of monetary policy, which, in turn, could strengthen the U.S. dollar's position. However, such a development is unlikely since central banks do not make decisions based on data alone. They are more interested in the trend over time, and the recent decline in inflation in Europe may be temporary.
The EUR/USD pair is moving within the upper deviation of the psychological level of 1.1000/1.1050, indicating a sustained corrective cycle from the local high of the medium-term trend. In the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator has left the oversold zone but remains in the sellers' area between 30 and 50. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines (MA) point downward, which corresponds to the corrective phase. Expectations and Prospects Stabilizing the price below the 1.1050 mark is sufficient for the next stage of the decline. However, this will only result in a local shift of the support point toward the lower area of the psychological level. The complex indicator analysis points to a corrective price move in the short-term and intraday periods. Indicators point to an upward trend in the medium term.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 4, 2024
Yesterday, September 3rd, was quite eventful: The S&P 500 was down 2.12%, oil was down 4.78%, the dollar index was up 0.07%, and the yield on 5-year U.S. government bonds down 2.09% to 3.63%. Given this turn of events, the likelihood of the euro reversing from the support of the embedded green price channel line is very low. We expect the support at 1.1010 to be breached and the target level of 1.0950 to be reached. The Marlin oscillator on the daily time frame has entered the downtrend territory.
In the 4-hour chart, Marlin is rising against the trend of the daily oscillator and has even formed a slight convergence with the price. There are two possible scenarios here: a market reversal pattern or a standard limited risea brief release of oscillator tension before further decline. The reversal could occur either at the zero line or slightly above it, forming a false breakout into the positive territory.
However, what interests us most now is the market reversal pattern. According to the CFTC data, the largest euro position of the current year was accumulated last week. A fresh report will be released on Friday. If the big players plan to knock out the rest of the market participants, the timing is perfect. One of the key upcoming releases is the U.S. labor report for August, due the day after tomorrow. The forecast suggests an increase in new jobs by 160-164,000 compared to 114,000 in July and a decrease in the unemployment rate from 4.3% to 4.2%. Undoubtedly, such data will lower the still-aggressive market expectations regarding the pace of the Federal Reserve's rate cuts, and this could result in the closure of euro purchases.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 5, 2024
Despite yesterday's increase in volatility and the expansion of the sideways range, the euro maintained the boundaries of safe wandering, closing the day at the upper boundary of this rangeat the resistance level of 1.1085. The Marlin oscillator continued to develop within a narrow range along the zero neutral line.
Today, the euro will likely decline as we await tomorrow's US employment data. The data is expected to be strong, and the primary scenario for the euro remains bearish. An attack on the support level of 1.1010 is likely. In the 4-hour chart, the price convergence with the Marlin oscillator has been processed.
The price was raised by 67 pips from the day's low. At the resistance level of 1.1065, the price also met the balance indicator line. A downward price reversal from this line tells us that yesterday's rise was a standard correction. A breakdown of the downward movement is possible if the price consolidates above the level of 1.1140, which is marked as a key MACD line.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot forecast for EUR/USD on September 6, 2024
The EUR/USD pair is in a recovery phase from a recent corrective cycle. The upper deviation of the psychological level of 1.1000/1.1050 serves as a support, where an increase in the volume of long positions was observed. In the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is moving in the buyers' area of 50/70, indicating an increase in the volume of long positions for the euro. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines have changed direction from downward to upward, corresponding to the end of the corrective phase. Expectations and Prospects In case of further growth, we expect the euro to recover fully, with a target at the resistance level of 1.1200. This move may indicate an extension of the medium-term upward trend. However, due to the release of the United States Department of Labor report, technical analysis takes a back seat, as speculators will primarily focus on data when making trading decisions. The complex indicator analysis points to the process of the euro's recovery in the short-term, intraday, and medium-term periods.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 9, 2024
The currency market's reaction to Friday's US employment data was surprisingly muted the dollar index changed by 0.07%, gold dropped by 0.73%, and oil by 2.14%. The stock market reacted strongly, with a decline of 1.73%. In the non-farm sector, 142,000 new jobs were created in August against a forecast of 162,000, with July's figures revised downward by 25,000. Unemployment decreased from 4.3% to 4.2%. The broader U6 unemployment rate increased from 7.8% to 7.9%. However, hourly earnings increased by 0.4% for the month. Overall, our expectations for good data were met. But we don't see the authorities' desire to manipulate the market here; the data came out at the forecast level and maintained a slight intrigue regarding the September rate cut. We believe the rate will be lowered by 0.25%, but some players are still pricing in a 30% probability of a 0.50% rate cut in September and a 41% probability of a 0.50% cut at the December meeting. Hence, the main movement of the dollar strengthening will start from September 18.
On Thursday, September 12, the European Central Bank will lower the rate by 0.25%. Market participants fully anticipate such a decrease, but it has not yet been priced in. We believe that market participants will wait until the Federal Reserve's decision and then start actively buying dollars. Currently, on the daily chart, the euro is in a balanced stateat the support level of 1.1085and this equilibrium is confirmed by the Marlin oscillator, which is on the zero line. According to the main scenario, the euro needs to consolidate below the support level, and then an attempt can be made to target 1.1010. Generally, we expect the euro to be in the range of 1.0888-1.0905.
In the 4-hour chart, the price is above the balance line, with Marlin in the positive area. Price growth is possible, but it is limited by the MACD line around 1.1113. In general, the sideways movement of the euro is likely today and tomorrow.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 10, 2024
At the end of yesterday, the euro fell by 51 pips. This is probably a continuation of the reaction to Friday's US employment data. The euro can no longer hold back the obvious (reasons) the imminent European Central Bank rate cut and the restrained pace of the Federal Reserve's rate cut on a locally overbought euro. Germany's CPI for August will be released today, expected to fall from 2.3% y/y to 1.9% y/y. In the UK, July's unemployment rate is expected to fall from 4.2% to 4.1%. The euro may continue its downward slide.
The euro is still within the consolidation range of 1.1030/85 theoretically, but on the daily time frame, the price is already pushing through the nearest embedded line of the descending green price channel. The movement's target is the level of 1.1010. From there, an assault on 1.0950 will begin, reinforced by the MACD line. If the price is not contained, we expect strong movement directly from the moment the ECB cuts rates on September 12th.
In the 4-hour chart, the price consolidated below both indicator lines, with Marlin declining in the negative area. The prevailing short-term trend is downward.

If the debate between Donald Trump and Joseph Biden was a real disaster, yesterday's debate with Kamala Harris was much smoother and didn't cause any panic. So, the markets were able to ignore them. Investors can now calmly focus solely on U.S. inflation, especially since the rate of consumer price growth is expected to slow from 2.9% to 2.6%. This would likely convince the markets of a 50-basis-point cut in the Federal Reserve's interest rate. Thus, there is a high likelihood of a significant weakening of the U.S. dollar.
After testing the previous week's local low, the EUR/USD pair has resumed its corrective cycle. However, this movement didn't lead to any radical changes; the price merely returned to the upper deviation area of the psychological level of 1.1000/1.1050. In the 4-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is moving in the lower 30/50 range, indicating bearish sentiment among market participants. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point downwards, which coincides with the direction of the price movement. Expectations and Prospects Stabilizing the price below the 1.1000 mark is necessary for the next phase of the decline. However, this would only shift the local support level to the lower region of the psychological range. Until that happens, traders are considering a price rebound as the main scenario on the market. The complex indicator analysis suggests a price rebound in the short term, while indicators point to a downward cycle in the intraday period.

The slowdown in inflation in the United States turned out to be more significant than even the most optimistic forecasts, yet the situation in the currency market remained unchanged. Almost immediately after it was revealed that the consumer price growth rate had slowed from 2.9% to 2.5%, major media outlets began focusing on core inflation, particularly in its monthly measure rather than the annual one. Core inflation increased by 0.3%. Although the U.S. central bank never mentions this indicator and is thus largely insignificant, the media started claiming that the Federal Reserve will slowly lower interest rates because of core inflation. As a result, the media frenzy somewhat balanced out the actual data, leaving the market in its previous position. Today, all eyes are on the European Central Bank's board meeting. The market has long been prepared for the refinancing rate to be lowered from 4.25% to 4.00%, so this fact will not affect investor sentiment. Everything will depend on the statements ECB President Christine Lagarde may make during the subsequent press conference, particularly regarding the central bank's future actions. The market is concerned only with the pace of monetary policy easing at least until the end of this year. If the head of the ECB announces even one more rate cut, it will substantially boost the U.S. dollar, allowing it to continue strengthening its position.

Perhaps never before have we seen a scenario where, following a 60 basis point cut in the refinancing rate, the currency issued by the central bank making such a significant move actually rises. But that's precisely what happened yesterday. After the European Central Bank lowered the interest rate from 4.25% to 3.65%, the single currency didn't even consider a decline. On the contrary, it grew quite confidently. And this was the largest single cut in the refinancing rate in the entire history of the ECB. While it's now listed in virtually every economic calendar that this outcome was predicted, that's not entirely accurate. Right before the meeting, forecasts were pointing to a rate of 4.00%. That was changed almost after the fact. So, this large cut was an outright surprise. This raises the question of why the euro continued to rise afterward. The answer lies in the comments made by ECB President Christine Lagarde. During her press conference, she explicitly stated that the ECB is putting the monetary policy easing process on hold. In other words, no more rate cuts for now. The market, however, had expected this process to be drawn out over a more extended period. Now, the Federal Reserve will be lowering interest rates, not the ECB. This shift in expectations likely spurred the euro's rise. However, interest rates in the United States are still significantly higher than those in Europe, which is unlikely to change. The only question is the size of the interest rate disparity. This fact will continue to put pressure on the euro. Once the market recovers from the initial shock, the dollar will likely resume steadily strengthening its position.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot Forecast for EUR/USD on September 16, 2024
The market is starting to prepare for the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee meeting this Wednesday, which is causing the euro to continue strengthening its position. The anticipation centers around the market's expectation of an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. There are still strong expectations of a 50-basis-point cut. As a result, it may turn out that after the first rate cut in several years, the dollar could rise if the Fed lowers the key rate by only 25 bps. Until then, the dollar will likely remain under pressure and gradually lose value.
The EUR/USD pair is currently in a recovery phase following a recent corrective move. The psychological level of 1.1000 serves as support. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator moves within the buyers' area of 50/70, indicating an upward sentiment among market participants. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point upward, aligning with the price movement. Expectations and Prospects If the next stage of the euro's recovery continues amid the market's dollar sell-off, stabilizing the price above the 1.1100 mark could increase the volume of long positions. Under this scenario, the pair may move at least toward the recent local high of September. As an alternative scenario, there could be a slowdown in the recovery cycle, with the price returning to the upper area of the psychological level. The complex indicator analysis indicates an ongoing upward cycle in the short-term, intraday, and medium-term periods.

Leading media outlets are increasingly promoting the idea of a 50-basis point cut in the U.S. rate, contributing to further weakening of the U.S. dollar. Considering that the Federal Open Market Committee meeting is tomorrow, this trend is likely to persist until the close of today's trading. However, the scale of the dollar's weakening is expected to be somewhat more modest than yesterday. The dollar will find some support from macroeconomic data. Despite the possible slowdown in retail sales growth, from 2.7% to 2.2%, the decline in industrial production of -0.3% is likely to turn into growth of 0.2%. So, two key sectors of the economy might show growth, which should provide at least some support for the dollar.
Since the start of the new trading week, the euro's recovery has accelerated, allowing it to surpass the 1.1100 level. This price movement indicates more than a 60% recovery relative to the recent corrective cycle. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is moving in the buyers' area of 50/70, indicating a bullish market sentiment. It is worth noting that the overbought zone has already been reached. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point upward, aligning with the price movement. Expectations and Prospects The price's stabilization above 1.1100 may indicate further growth in the volume of long positions in the euro, which, from a technical analysis perspective, suggests the possibility of the price rising toward the resistance level of 1.1200. The alternative scenario considers a slowdown in the upward cycle in the form of a pullback due to the euro's local overbought condition in the short term. The complex indicator analysis indicates a sustained upward cycle in the short-term, intraday, and medium-term periods.

If the leading U.S. media were assuring the inevitability of a 50 basis points interest rate cut on Monday, yesterday, it seemed everyone had forgotten about those reports. The same outlets casually began talking about a 25 bps cut instead. This, of course, had its effect and even allowed the dollar to start strengthening from the opening of the U.S. trading session. But in reality, it no longer matters much how big today's interest rate cut will be. The dollar has been losing ground since spring when talks about the upcoming monetary policy easing by the Federal Reserve began to intensify. The market has already priced in one or two cutsthose very 50 bps. Of course, the fact that this is the first rate cut in several years will impress the markets, and the dollar will weaken for some time. But the scale of its decline will still be minor. What's far more important is what Fed Chair Jerome Powell will say. But, based on his previous speeches, he will most likely stick to ritualistic phrases, essentially saying that future interest rate decisions will consider macroeconomic dynamics. In other words, the head of the Fed is unlikely to say anything concrete. Therefore, the market will eventually return its focus to the interest rate disparity, which has recently shifted significantly in favor of the dollar. It's quite possible that once the initial emotions subside, the dollar will start to strengthen. This process could take several months.
During its upward momentum, the EUR/USD pair nearly reached the local high of September 6, at which point the volume of long positions decreased. As a result, a pullback-stagnation occurred, fitting within the component of the upward cycle. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator exited the overbought zone during the pullback but remained in the bullish area of 50/70. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point upward, aligning with the price movement. Expectations and Prospects Price stabilization above the 1.1150 level is necessary for the next growth phase. Under this scenario, a complete recovery from the recent correction and an update to the medium-term trend's high is possible. It's important to note that today, technical analysis takes a backseat, as speculators' primary focus is on the outcome of the Fed meeting. The complex indicator analysis suggests a pullback in the short term, while indicators are geared towards an upward cycle in the intraday and medium-term periods.

For the first time in four years, the Federal Reserve lowered its interest rates by a substantial 50 basis points. This move was driven not only by the steady slowdown in inflation but also by the U.S. central bank's concerns about the potential slide of the economy into a recession. However, what is truly surprising is the market's reaction the dollar immediately started to rise significantly. The reason lies in the statements made by Jerome Powell. The head of the U.S. central bank promptly warned the markets not to expect the same pace of monetary policy easing to continue. According to him, the Federal Open Market Committee is considering cutting interest rates by another 50 bps by the end of this year, but this will happen gradually. With only two meetings left this year, this means 25 basis points at each meeting. However, everything will depend on macroeconomic dynamics. Given that the pace of inflation will surely slow down, there is a possibility that the central bank might only lower its interest rates once before the start of next year. This is precisely why the dollar began to strengthen, as the markets were expecting a more aggressive monetary policy easing. Today, the focus shifts to the Bank of England, which will likely set the tone for further actions by key central banks. The British central bank is expected to keep its interest rates unchanged. In the context of the Fed starting to lower its rates, such a step by the BoE would provide momentum for the pound to rise. This, in turn, would also pull up the euro via the dollar index.
The EUR/USD pair, driven by a strong flow of news and information, shows increased volatility. During this period, the price almost reached the 1.1200 mark. The upward sentiment remains undeniable despite the previous trading day's closing near the opening level. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is moving in the buyers' zone of 50/70, indicating a bullish sentiment. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point upward, aligning with the current price movement. Expectations and Prospects For the next stage of growth, price stabilization above 1.1150 is necessary. Under this scenario, it is possible to see an update of the mid-term trend high, located around the 1.1200/1.1280 range. Comprehensive indicator analysis in the short-term and intraday periods supports a sustained upward trend.

After the Bank of England kept its interest rates unchanged, investors finally realized that the situation in the market was changing somewhat. The number of votes in favor of lowering the key rate decreased, which means the British central bank put on pause further easing monetary policy. Not long before, the European Central Bank implemented a significant rate cut, indicating that any further reductions would occur in the more distant future. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve is just starting its monetary policy easing journey. In other words, only the United States will be lowering interest rates in the near future, while in Europe, they will remain unchanged. This is precisely why the dollar is losing ground, and it seems this process will continue for several months.
The EUR/USD pair has almost fully recovered its value after the recent corrective cycle. Currently, the price is fluctuating around the local high of the upward trend. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator is moving in the buyers' zone of 50/70, indicating a bullish sentiment. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines point upward, aligning with the price movement direction. Expectations and Prospects The price's stabilization above 1.1150 reflects a bullish sentiment among market participants. However, buyers still face resistance in the 1.1200/1.1280 area, which represents the peak of the medium-term trend. This area must be overcome to strengthen the current trend; otherwise, it could act as resistance. The complex indicator analysis indicates an upward cycle in the short-term, intraday, and medium-term periods.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Forecast for EUR/USD on September 23, 2024
On Friday, the euro tried for the third time to test the resistance of the target level of 1.1186 and the upper boundary of the price channel. If this continues, the resistance will eventually fall. Consolidating above this level will open the target of 1.1276. However, this will not yet signal the start of a medium-term rise, as the potential divergence with the Marlin oscillator may still take effect.
Several counter-dollar currencies have already formed such divergence. The euro can reverse without divergence, similar to what happened in November 2022 but in an upward scenario. For this to occur, the Marlin oscillator must consolidate in the downtrend territory, and the price must subsequently consolidate below the MACD line.
On the four-hour chart, Marlin is close to crossing into negative territory. If the price breaks through the support level of 1.1076, it will also mean breaking through the MACD line in this time frame. The situation remains bullish on both timeframes, so we will wait to see how events unfold. The Eurozone September Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) will be released today. A slight weakening is expected, with the composite PMI from S&P Global forecasted to drop from 51.0 to 50.6. This upward trend may change.

The business activity indices in Europe were expected to remain broadly unchanged, while the United States would show a significant decline. However, the outcome was somewhat different. Initially, the composite business activity index in the Eurozone dropped from 51.0 to 48.9. This decline was due to a decrease in the services activity index, from 45.8 to 44.8, and the manufacturing index, from 52.9 to 50.5, despite forecasts predicting an increase to 53.0. These figures immediately strengthened the dollar, which only slowed down after the opening of the US trading session. The composite index of business activity in the United States was expected to decline from 54.6 points to 53.0 points, but it only decreased to 54.4. This was despite the manufacturing index dropping from 47.9 to 47.0, with a forecast of 48.0. The key factor was the services activity index, which, instead of decreasing from 55.7 to 54.0, rose to 55.4. Overall, business activity is declining on both sides of the Atlantic. While this was a complete surprise in Europe, the situation in the United States is somewhat better than expected. The economic calendar is generally empty until the end of the current week. Thus, the only thing the market can rely on is media reports. The market will likely consolidate around the already achieved values if no sensational news arises.
Despite a slight pullback in the euro's exchange rate against the dollar, the quotation remains near the local high of the upward trend. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator has fallen below the 50 midpoint, indicating a retracement. However, this does not mean the sellers have broken the upward cycle. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average lines have locally changed direction due to the pullback. Expectations and Prospects For the next phase of growth, it is necessary to stabilize the quotation above the 1.1200 mark. In this scenario, there is a high probability of surpassing the high set in July 2023, which is 1.1276. Otherwise, we can expect a range-bound movement around the current values. The complex indicator analysis indicates a retracement in the short-term and intraday periods. The indicators are oriented towards an upward trend in the medium term.
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Overview of GBP/USD on September 25; The Pound Doesn't Care Where or When to Rise
Guess what? The GBP/USD pair continued to move upward on Tuesday. The movement was relatively weak this time, but we also warned about this yesterday. Yes, the market didn't have reasons to sell the dollar and buy the pound this time, but it didn't have them on Monday either. Nevertheless, the British currency also grew on the first trading day of the week. Let's recall that on Monday, the UK published the Purchasing Managers' Indices (PMI) for the services and manufacturing sectors, which turned out to be weaker than expected. Therefore, the pound had every reason to fall by at least 30-40 pips. And it did fall, but what's the point if it eventually rose by 80 pips without any reason? On Tuesday, there was no news from the UK or the US, yet the British currency continued its sluggish growth. Thus, we can draw an unambiguous conclusion time passes, but the situation in the forex market doesn't change. We've been talking about the illogical upward movement since the beginning of the year because even back then, it was evident that the pound was rising much more frequently than there was positive news from the UK or negative news from the US. It's the end of September, and the pound still rises whenever and wherever it wants. You can endlessly debate that the market is "experiencing a rise in risk sentiment" or that "the market expects a divergence in Federal Reserve and Bank of England rates," but all of this is just an attempt to present wishful thinking as reality. The US dollar has been falling for two consecutive years. If the market is currently pricing in the future divergence between the Fed/BoE rates, why was the pound rising a year ago or even a year and a half ago?
Forex Analysis & Reviews: Hot Forecast for EUR/USD on September 26, 2024
If on Tuesday the dollar weakened without any serious reasons, aside from the contrived hype stirred up by the leading American media, then yesterday it strengthened, once again defying common sense. There were no significant macroeconomic data releases, but a 4.7% drop in new home sales certainly can't support strengthening the US currency. Most likely, the market was correcting the imbalances that had arisen the day before, returning to the levels it was on Tuesday morning. In other words, the situation in the market remains unchanged, albeit accompanied by considerable volatility. Today's published data on US GDP is unlikely to have much impact, as it concerns final figures expected to merely confirm the preliminary estimates already factored in by the market. Attention can be paid to the durable goods orders, which might decrease by 0.1%. Given that the market cannot remain motionless, a decline in orders will likely lead to a symbolic weakening of the dollar.
The EUR/USD pair temporarily surpassed the 1.1200 level during market speculation, but market participants could not stabilize the quote above it. As a result, a price pullback occurred, with the pair still trading near the peak of the upward cycle. In the four-hour chart, the RSI technical indicator moves around the median level of 50, indicating a price pullback. Regarding the Alligator indicator in the same time frame, the moving average (MA) lines are intertwined, corresponding to a pullback phase. Expectations and Prospects For the next phase of growth, it's necessary to stabilize the quote above the 1.1200 mark throughout the day. In this scenario, the high set in July 2023, which stands at 1.1276, is highly probable to be updated. Otherwise, we can expect fluctuating movement around the current levels. The complex indicator analysis in short-term and intraday periods indicates a pullback.
