Australia has the best beaches in the world, but its rivers are not terribly great for canoeing, say compared to Canada, USA, Japan or New Zealand. The fact is, there is not enough water or elevation in this country. The only rivers are pretty well only along the east coast. The best rivers in NSW are the Nymboida River (advanced) inland from Grafton and the Barrington River (inland from Taree). These areas have reliable water and make attractive paddling. In Queensland I guess its the Tully River near Cairns. There are rafting companies on that river as well.
